Brandywine Meadows' is named after Brandywine Brook which passes through a farmstead purchased by our family in the early 1960's. The name dates back to the days of the Revolutionary War when the Boquet River was the site of General John Burgoyne's
Proclamation of 1777. Later, on May 13, 1814, the British attempted an attack up the Boquet. They were repulsed. Forty British were killed or wounded to every three colonials wounded.
This same farmstead was rumored to be the site of late night traffic during Prohibition. Whether there was brandy or wine involved is unknown.
Thankfully, things have quieted down since those days.
